What is a Domain Name?
A domain name is your company’s address on the internet. When you first thought about starting an online business, you probably searched for domain names.   Picking the perfect domain name can be one of the best AND hardest parts of the process!  Once you decide on an available domain, you can register it by visiting a domain registrar (i.e. godaddy.com; domains.google.com).   I encourage all business owners to register their own domain.  Employee’s  and web designers may come and go, but your business address is your brand, be sure that it stays in your control!  I’m always available to help get an account set up in your name.

How Does Web Hosting Work?
You have your domain name, now you need a place house it. When you set up an online business or store, you have a series of files, images, and code that make up your website. These files take up space. That’s where Web Hosting comes in. Web Hosting is an online ‘home’ for your files. I provide a place on my web server to store all of your files!  Then, when someone makes a request (someone types in your domain name), the files of your website will be accessed.

Simply put, you are renting storage space on the internet!
